About
The
Author
Alice J. Rosen, MSEd, LMHC, is Director of Education for
"Feeding Ourselves (SM)", founder of "The No-Diet Workshop", and a
faculty member of the Institute for Meditation and Psychotherapy. She
works as a psychotherapist and educator specializing in eating and body
image issues. Her private practice, which spans over twenty years of
concentration in this field, is located in Concord, MA.
Alice leads workshops and groups designed to instill a healthy and
satisfying relationship with food. She addresses the general public,
parents, and teachers, on prevention and early intervention for
disordered eating and related topics. She also consults with health
educators on syllabus planning for prevention curriculums.
Her publication credits include her column, "BODY INTELLIGENCE REPORT"
which appeared for three years in the journal-letter, FOOD ISSUES. Alice
has published many pieces on the topic of media and body image, and has
also been profiled in both Glamour and Self Magazine.
Mindfulness Meditation is a key reference point for Alice's teaching, as
is her training in Internal Family Systems, Expressive Therapies, stress
management, and Women's Group Process. Alice tailors her therapeutic
approach to the needs of the individual. The Conscious Café(TM), a group
opportunity to eat and enjoy food mindfully, stems from her personal
understanding and experience that awareness is a healing factor.
Alice authored and recorded "The Feeding Ourselves Method"
CD set - an
interactive support tool to change one's relationship to food and body.
This course was created by Alice to be used both separately and along
with the existing Feeding Ourselves(sm) program, and The NO-diet
Workshop. The step by step comprehensive process provided by this course
enables the listener to respond more appropriately to emotional
triggers, and to exercise the principles of mindful eating as an avenue
to health, satisfaction, and healing.
The recording is designed to be used over and over as a daily exercise
in the practice of nourishing oneself in attunement with true bodily
needs, and as an 'in-the-moment' support tool, to change behaviors when
one is feeling out of control with food.

What People Say
Your gifts as a teacher and facilitator
are remarkable. You created an atmosphere of safety, you offered
yourself in a compassionate and open way and your humor and authenticity
were a god send.
"A much needed
therapeutic companion for people who struggle with eating problems...
and an excellent tool for professionals looking for successful ways to
help clients heal eating problems". Rivka Simmons - Founder of Have Your
Cake and Eat it Too!
"I highly
recommend these CDs for anyone who has a disturbing relationship with
food, and for all therapists. I, as a clinician, also benefited
tremendously. This form of intervention added a new dimension to
therapy. It allowed clients to proceed on their own in a way that felt
deeply respectful to them. It helped to open new areas of therapy
that had not been tended to and helped them move slowly into those
areas." Anne M. Cinque, Ph.D., Psychologist - Washington, DC
"This CD series is
a gem. A significant and invaluable contribution to the field of applied
Buddhism...the best tool for working meditatively with eating problems
that I know of. It is warm, wise, and perhaps most important,
effective. I recommend it highly to those who struggle with
regulating their eating and also to those in the helping professions who
work with such clients." - Joseph Bobrow, Ph.D., Psychologist,
Founder of
Deep Streams Institute, Roshi, author - San Francisco CA
"This CD program is just
perfect for both therapists and patients. It is a revolutionary, yet
elegant and simple approach for anyone with eating issues." - Helen
Krell, M.D., Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry, U.C. Davis
Medical School
"Nutrition has always been one
of my passions, so having a greater understanding of this method feels
vital. I've so enjoyed listening to your strong, clear, and comforting
voice." L.W. - Masseuse, Healer
